Communication Strategies and Relationship Concerns

Relationship issues are of particular interest to me as a therapist because, in my experience, they provide the most helpful means for better knowing ourselves – our wants, needs, likes, dislikes, desires and passions.

Communication is a key element in a healthy relationship, whether a friendship or romantic relationship. In our work together we will explore communication strategies – how to express your needs and wants but also how to listen – and help you to better understand yourself in relation to others.

An important part of this work is learning to tolerate discomfort, to self soothe, and to explore ones feelings. It is difficult, if not near impossible, to be in healthy relationships with others if we don’t first have a healthy relationship with ourselves. The therapeutic relationship can be a safe place to explore who we are and who we are in relation.
